welcoming October tomorrow (or in a few minutes), and plenty to update since my last blog post.
its not that ive slacked in blogging.. well, i guess i have in online blogging. but ive been mostly jotting stuff down via pen/journal. so i dont really see the point of writing things out twice... but y'know, i do feel the "tug" of updating online as well. so here we go.
my last post, was when i freshly came back from sydney, had graduated with a diploma from HILC, and landed a job with HBCYR. now september is coming to an end, and i am currently funemployed. have been for a lil over 2 weeks actually. don't get me wrong, obviously things werent perfectly smooth, but i did learn loads and enjoyed my time at HBCYR. the best way to put it, i was blessed, others were blessed, but things just didnt work out. it is what it is, and now im on a resting/self-discovery phase. i never did have a break... went from my undergrad, worked full time hours with the government for 8 months, off to australia for 2 years, came back for 2 weeks to enjoy christmas and new years, then BAM January 2nd first day of work.
so what have i been doing? "funemployed" is quite an accurate description. altho... the most socially busy season is over (summer), theres still plenty to do. for one, ive always wanted to familiarize myself with the adobe creative suite. since the industry's abandonment of FCPX, because FCP7 was no longer supported, premiere is the way to go. altho, doing some research, lots of TV broadcasting companies actually use AVID. hm.. i'll need to look into that. aftereffects is another i hope to learn in the near future.
being an introvert, its been good getting some personal down time. which is actually refueling time for me. simple things such as catching up on TV shows (Dexter, The Newsroom, MasterChef, Castle, etc) has been relaxing. being an only child, i had to find some way to entertain myself. hence my love for number logic puzzles. no no.. not sudoku. ive moved passed that. to many other japanese number puzzles. also been a good time of catching up with some friends. some other funemployed ppl, weekday lunches for the employed, or shift/part time workers, you name it! its a lot easier to meet up when my sched is wide open.
what else... oh yeah. how shall i put this... lets just say, i currently have no job and no church. most ppl usually end up lacking one or the other.. but rarely BOTH at the same time. like i previously mentioned, things at hbcyr "ended" well. but for the foreseeable future, i wont be attending there on weekends for obvious reasons. so ive been on the church hunt. theres a few i had in mind and wanted to check out since i went to australia, so here's my chance! would also like to mention... on foursquare, i am now the mayor of harvest oakville as well LOL. i was there for Surge, attended a sat night service the week after, and was at night of worship this past weekend. thats only 3 check ins... i guess no one uses the app? hrm... dont know when i'll be back next (cus it really is quite a far drive, especially with terrible 401 traffic) so we'll see how long i maintain that mayorship. =P
travelling and exploring is something else ive got planned out! no no.. i wont be backpacking the world. australia was kinda my "go halfway around the world for a long period of time" stage of my life. by exploring, i mean there is plenty of toronto i have yet to explore. and by toronto i mean going around southern ontario. but the city of toronto is a good place to start. places on my list that ive never been to (or my mom claims i have but i dont remember): don valley brickworks, scarborough bluffs, distillery district, high park, casa loma, toronto zoo, i havent been to the ROM since grade 8, lots of food gem places downtown to try, on the hunt for good coffee (thanks australia for spoiling me)... you get the idea. travelling! got NYC planned for this coming weekend for hillsong conf NYC :) then hamilton on Nov12th for hillsong UNITED! then a week in Dec is CANCUN for friends' wedding! yay!! my first ever beach type of vacation! its going to be a blast! :)
oh another one! ive been trying to get back into reading. I KNOW RIGHT?!?! ive got John Piper and Francis Chan and Andy Stanley books i bought when at Passion (2010 and 2012) and still havent read em yet. ive got the full Francis Chan set on my ipad, but havent touched em. so finally... im currently in the middle of 3 books. WAIT WHAT?!? you say? im usually the type to finish a book before starting another. but all 3 books im reading now are quite different, so im not confusing them. Francis Chan's Crazy Love, Jon Acuff's Quitter (reading this for obvious reasons), and Richard Castle's Heat Wave. yes, the novel in the TV show Castle, is an actual book written, cus of the TV show! pretty neat! and i'm enjoying some fiction too.
so yeah. here is a life update. not so much my usual "what did i learn" kinda post. wondering when/what my next post will be?
