Day 58: so.... what have i learnt?

its been nearly 2 months since ive been in the land of Oz, and we're half way thru week 6 of school.
so what have i learnt? do i feel any closer to being a professional TV & media person?
the answer is NO.
really... a lot of it has been teaching us how to live our life as a follower of Christ. most of it is self-reflection and examination. a lot about self-discipline, defining your core values/beliefs. all of it is pointing towards me. changing the way i think. the way i do things. the way i react to things (attitudes). and ultimately, i guess it comes down to what my motives are for serving.
instead of them drilling and making sure we're here to study, to serve/lead for the right purpose, they're helping us figure it out ourselves, and see it as clear as possible.
its a lot of self-discovery. (which i was fore-warned about this by past/current students and the principal)
Lee Burns said "before you even stepped into Hillsong College, we believe in what you are capable of, more than you believe in yourself!"

now im curious as to where i'll end up. what my future will look like.
as of right now, 6 weeks into school, and i have "served" once. i did "graphics operator". aka lyrics. aka other than learning to use Presenter (bleh... PC.), nothing new.
ive been observing the director (and other positions) during chapel and such, and got a brief intro for lighting. thats about it.
well, been learning loads in digital editing. i'd say 75% of it was review (but a good portion of that was explained WHY it works like that! haha.. never understood. i just knew how to achieve a certain effect!), and 25% of it was new. =) and part of that "new" 25%, theres so much that i wish i knew when making the CCSA 2010 banquet vid! would've solved a lot of problems. but at the same time, a lot of what i already knew was from making acf and ccsa vids. haha...
but yeah... ive been rostered for more stuff this coming friday (CCU!), then 3 things so far for april (camera 3, camera 4, and CCU again!)
i know im sorta "complaining" about lack of positions now. but apparently, wait til next semester kicks in. i'll be so busy and tired all the time from 7am call times and late night editing. haha... guess i need to get used to it. the life of the TV & media career path.
first to arrive to set up, last to leave after clean up.
thats the life! =)
